Knight: Moves in an "L" shape - move two squares vertically and then one square horizontally, or move two squares horizontally and then one square vertically. Elephant: Move any distance diagonally. Important chess positions: Check: This is when the king is directly threatened by the opponent's pieces. Checkmate: When it is the player's turn to move, there is no way to escape from the check. Draw: When it is the player's turn to move, there is no legal move and the game is a draw. The goal of the game is to checkmate the opponent's king!
